Land of Smiles
Thanks to the friendliness of the locals, the fantastic climate, and affordable prices, Thailand has become one of the most popular tourist destinations and a favourite winter getaway for many Europeans.
The dry season in Thailand lasts from November to May, with an average yearly temperature hovering around 29 degrees Celsius. Comfortable, right? In terms of prices, Thailand offers hotels for every budget, from budget-friendly to luxurious. Restaurants, bars, souvenirs, and entertainment are surprisingly inexpensive, the primary expense is the flight.
The welcoming smiling locals are the true symbol of Thailand. Thai people are so hospitable and friendly that it is very easy to feel at home.
40,000 Temples
Thailand boasts over 40,000 Buddhist temples, with more than 30,000 of them still in use. The oldest Thai temple dates back to the 1600s. Each temple, without exception, is filled with symbolism and represents a beautiful example of traditional Thai architecture. Inside, it's cool and serene. Wandering in silence through the temple grounds is a form of meditation by itself.
Relaxation for the Soul
Thailand boasts numerous beautiful paradise beaches with excellent infrastructure, and there are still secret wild bays to be discovered.
By the way, if you want to find a truly deserted fairy-tale beach, take a boat and float between the islands – this is also a popular activity in Thailand. In addition to boats traveling between the islands, there are bamboo rafts for drifting along river waters. There are fast, turbulent rivers for thrill-seekers and calm, slow ones suitable for drifting even with little children.
Thailand is a haven for spa enthusiasts. Massages, herbal baths, aromatherapy – these procedures are affordable and available in both expensive elite hotels and quaint street shops. The famous Thai massage, combined with warm sun and sea, can cure your stress in just a week.
Festivals All Year Round
Buddha's Day,the Lantern Festival,Loy Krathong (the water and light festival),Songkran (Thai New Year) – this is just a glimpse of the traditional Thai festivals celebrated grandly, vividly, and exotically! The Lantern Festival, marking the beginning of the rainy season and the annual Buddhist Lent,is particularly dazzling. Legend has it that all started with people bringing food and drinks to monks in seclusion for prayers. People illuminated their path with candles, and over the years, these candles became brighter. Today, you'll witness an array of candles during festive processions. This festival usually falls in July. Ending the rainy season is Loy Krathong, the festival of light and water,in late November. Locals release "krathongs,"leaf boats with candles, onto the water and launch sky lanterns into the sky.
Explosion of Flavors
Thai cuisine is a separate culinary adventure. Each dish is an explosion of flavors: salty, sour, spicy, and sometimes sweet, or even an elusive blend of all four. The goal of Thai chefs is to achieve a balance between these fundamentally different tastes. And the best part – you can eat very affordably. Even in mid-range restaurants, the average bill is significantly lower than in Europe. Not to mention the street food in numerous kiosks and snack bars.
